More than 1,000 drivers caught using phone while driving over weekend

Gardaí say almost 1,200 fixed charge notices were issued as part of their blitz on drivers who used their mobiles phones over the past weekend.

The figure comes as officers launch their road safety campaign for the May Bank Holiday.
