SIPTU planning 'work to rule' at Irish airports

SIPTU may be planning a "work to rule" for its Aer Lingus and DAA members to disrupt flights at the country's main airports.

Passengers could be hit with longer queues, baggage delays and hand searches at security with elements of SIPTU planning to get "creative" with industrial action against the DAA and Aer Lingus.

The High Court recently granted an injunction forcing the union to drop plans for industrial action over St Patrick's weekend - a move which has effectively barred them from mounting strike action.

The dispute focuses on a massive hole in the pensions fund run by the country's major airports and Aer Lingus.

Employment Specialist Gerry Flynn of Align Management Solutions says the union could now be planning a "work to rule".
