Shatter rejects AGSI conference invite

The Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors has said the Justice Minister Alan Shatter has declined to attend their conference next week.

The representative body for mid-ranking officers said they have been told by the Department of Justice officials that Alan Shatter will not be coming to this year's event because he will be marking Passover and he has a meeting in Luxembourg the following day.

Minister Shatter's refusal to accept the AGSI's invitation comes amid a downturn in his relationship with the force over the Garda Tapes and GSOC controversies.
