Two arrested over Sligo assault

Gardaí have arrested two men over an assault in Sligo overnight which left a man with serious injuries to his face.

It happened at about 3.30am this morning at a disturbance at a house in Avondale in Sligo town.

A man in his 20s was injured and taken to Sligo General Hospital.

Two men in their early 20s were arrested and are being held at Sligo Garda Station.

Officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
