President Higgins extends sympathies to Geldof family

The President has extended his sympathies on the death of Peaches Geldof.

During the State visit in London, Michael D Higgins says he extends his deepest sympathies to Bob Geldof and his family on the sudden and untimely death.

In a statement he says this is such a difficult cross to bear for any family and all of our thoughts are with Peaches' family and friends at this time.

President Higgins and Sabina were due to meet Bob Geldof while on the State visit and he says they are thinking of him at this time of immense loss.
