Adams defends getting 'small pension' while earning €87k annually as TD

The Sinn Fein President, Gerry Adams, is defending the £50-a-week pension he receives for his time as a member of the Northern Ireland Assembly.

Mr Adams retired from the seat in 2010 when he decided to run for the Dáil, but had served nearly 12 years as a representative for the Belfast West constituency.

He currently earns €87,000 a year as a TD.

This morning, Mr Adams is denying that his pension is something his party would object to if it related to someone else.
