HSE carrying out post mortem on baby who died at Portlaoise Hospital

A post mortem is being carried out on a baby who died at Portlaoise Hospital at the weekend.

The HSE has offered its condolences to the infant's family and says its 'Incident Management Policy' is underway on the case.

An inquiry into the deaths of four other newborn babies at the hospital between 2006 and 2012 found that maternity care was not safe or sustainable.
