Shatter: 'No evidence at all' of GSOC bugging

The Justice Minister Alan Shatter is due to appear before the Oireachtas Oversight committee today to take questions about his handling of the GSOC bugging allegations.

Mr Shatter told the Dáil last night that he has received a new report from an Irish IT company, RITS, claiming there is "no evidence at all" of any surveillance at the Garda Ombudsman Commission.

It came hours after the Government announced it was appointing a retired High Court judge to lead an independent investigation into the allegations.

Minister Shatter explained why he was arranging an independent review - only days after ruling one out.
