Gardaí seize handgun after car searched

A man has been arrested after gardaí stopped a car in Co Kildare last night and seized a handgun and ammunition.

The vehicle was searched on the Naas road near Kill yesterday evening.

The 29-year-old driver of the car was detained and taken to Clondalkin Garda Station for questioning.

He is being held under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act.
