Gardaí have launched a murder inquiry following the death of a man in Dublin.

The body of 63-year-old Thomas Horan was discovered at his home in Ringsend two days ago.

A man and a woman have been arrested in connection with the man's death.

The body of Thomas Horan was discovered at around 4am on Monday morning by a friend who called to the man's home in Ringsend which remains sealed off today.

He had been living for the last three years at Cambridge Court, a housing complex for senior citizens run by Dublin City Council.

Gardai have launched a murder inquiry after a post mortem examination revealed that the man died from internal injuries.

A 27-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman were arrested this afternoon in connection with his death.

They are being held at Irishtown and Donnybrook Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Gardaí are appealling for anyone who may have been in the Cambridge Court/Road area of Irishtown between 10pm on Sunday January 5 and 4am on Monday, January 6, to contact them at Irishtown Garda Station on 01 - 6669600, the Garda Confidential Line 1800-666-111 or any Garda Station.
