More strong winds expected tomorrow morning

Met Éireann has forecast further stormy weather tomorrow, as a big clean-up operation continues around many parts of the country today following heavy flooding on Thursday night.

A yellow wind alert is in place for the morning in Munster, Leinster, Connacht and counties Donegal, Monaghan and Cavan.

Winds are expected to be light overnight, but gale-force winds are expected to arrive tomorrow morning along with rainy conditions.

Meanwhile, Salthill in Galway is one of the flood-hit areas which is still recovering from heavy flooding earlier this week.

Local authorities across Ireland are still assessing the damage caused in several coastal regions.

"We are still advising people not to park their cars in the public car parks," said Gary McMahon from Galway City Council. "This is all in anticipation of further high tides this evening and tomorrow morning."

The forecast remains changeable and unsettled into early next week.
