Fourth person charged in connection with New Year's Day killing

A fourth person has appeared in court charged in connection with a serious New Year’s Day assault in Tallaght that led to the death of 20-year-old Dale Creighton.

23-year-old student James Reid of Homelawn Avenue in Tallaght is accused of producing a knife in the course of a dispute.

Gardaí are continuing to question three other men about the incident.

James Reid appeared in court this evening wearing a navy adidas tracksuit.

He is the fourth person to be charged in connection with Dale Creighton’s death following a serious assault at a footbridge on St Dominic’s Road in Tallaght at around 4am on New Year’s Day.

The full-time student is accused of producing a knife in the course of a dispute.

Gardaí say the incident was captured on CCTV.

Judge John O’Neill said it is a very serious charge but he has granted the 23-year-old bail on strict conditions, including that he stay away from Tallaght and from his three co-accused, who have been charged with violent disorder.

All four will appear at Dublin District Court on January 16.
