Family appeal for clues in 11-year-old New Year's Eve murder

The family of a car dealer murdered near the Clare Limerick Border 11 years ago today say they can't give up hope that those responsible for the crime will be caught.

39 year old Sean Poland was shot dead during an armed raid at his home at Blackwater, Ardnacrusha on New Year's Eve 2002, and while several arrests have been made in connection with his killing but no-one's ever been charged.

The case was the focus of a renewed garda appeal late last year, and Sean's sister, Marie Horgan told Clare FM this has helped them stay positive that someone will be convicted.

Today, she 's asking anyone with any details on what happened that night, no matter how small, to come forward.

"If they know anything - the least little thing - please come forward," she said.

"It might put a bit of closure on it for us, because at the moment - and for the last 11 years - we've had no closure. It's very hard to keep living with this."
