Man dies in Mayo shooting

A man has died following a shooting incident at a service station in Castlebar, Co Mayo.

A 26-year-old man was shot a number of times on the Moneen Road at approximately 3.30pm this afternoon.

He was taken to Mayo General Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8pm.

Gardai are appealing to anyone who noticed a dark coloured estate in the area at the time to contact them.
