Pensioner killed in Longford road collision

A pensioner has died after being hit by a car as she crossed the road in Co Longford.

It happened on the N4 at Lisnagrish, Edgeworthstown, at around 7.45pm last night.

The deceased, a woman, aged 74, was removed to Longford/Westmeath General Hospital in Mullingar.

A post mortem is due to be carried out at the Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore this morning.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
