A viable explosive device has been discovered in Dublin.

The Army Bomb Disposal team were called to a house in the Woodlands Grove area of Shankill at around a 6.45pm this evening.

A number of homes in the area were evacuated for a time.

The scene was declared safe at 7.15pm. The device has now been removed for further examination.
