Possibility of 14 years for assisting suicide in landmark trial
A woman who has been charged with assisting the suicide of an MS patient could face up to 14 years in prison if convicted.
42-year-old Gail O'Rorke, of Kilclare Gardens in Tallaght, Dublin has pleaded not guilty to assisting the suicide of MS sufferer Bernadette Forde in Dublin two years ago.
The DPP has sent Ms O'Rorke's case forward for trial, and she'll make her first appearance at the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court next month.
The case is likely to set a new precedent in Irish law for cases of assisted suicide.
