Bailout exit benefits 'grossly exaggerated', MEP claims

An Irish MEP says the benefits gained from leaving the bailout have been "grossly exaggerated".

Nessa Childers, Independent MEP, claims Ireland will still be subject to financial surveillance by the Troika and the EU.

"There's been a huge amount of exaggeration about what this means," she says. "anybody out here knows that we're in fact constrained now by [our agreements], and that we will, in fact, have two more harsh budgets."

"More money is going to have to be taken out of the economy next year."

The Government claims leaving the bailout programme will restore our sovereignty.
