Budget construction tax relief working, group claims

More people are hiring tradesmen for home improvements since the announcement of a tax scheme for this type of work in the budget.

Onlinetradesmen.ie claims there has been an increase of 22% in requests for refits, insulation and decoration projects.

The home renovation tax incentive enables homeowners to claim a tax credit of 13.5% for all qualifying expenditure on repair, renovation or improvement work carried out on their homes carried out between October 25 2013 and December 31 2015 if the projects cost between €5,000 and €30,000, exclusive of VAT.
