Westmeath accident victim still in hospital; road open after Garda examination

A man in his 20s remains critically ill in hospital after a crash in Co Westmeath in the early hours of this morning.

The victim was seriously injured when his car hit a ditch near Castlepollard just after 3am.

He was taken by ambulance to Mullingar Hospital for treatment.

The road was closed for a technical examination, but has now re-opened.
