The Minister for the Environment will travel to Ballymore Eustace tomorrow to meet officials and check progress on the water supply problem.

1.5 million people in Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow are affected by the nightly water cut offs, which will continue until Thursday.

The problem with the supply from this treatment plant has been identified and engineers and working to rectify it.

"I understand that they have now identified that the chemical mix in the treatment of the water was the issue, and they're dealing with that now as expeditiously as they can," Minister for the Environment, Phil Hogan, said.

He said he was visiting the plant tomorrow to ensure the same problem does not arise again in future.
