Gardaí investigating a fatal hit-and-run in Cork on Thursday night have confirmed that a number of vehicles have being examined as part of their investigation.

Gardai investigating a fatal hit-and-run in Cork on Thursday night have confirmed that a number of vehicles have being examined as part of their investigation.

The incident happened on George's Quay at around 9.30pm when the pedestrian was struck by a white Transit van.

The victim has been named locally as 25-year-old Gabriel Jean Sylvian-Lege formerly of Olonne-sur-Mer in the western France.

Gardaí say a number of witnesses have come forward to assist them with their investigation and gardai say they are following a number of lines of enquiry.

However, they have renewed their appeal for the driver of the van to come forward.
