Gardaí investigate death of former colleague

Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a former member of the force in Dublin.

Seamus Marren, 57, from Clonsilla - who retired from Cabra Garda Station in 2011 - died at Connolly Memorial Hospital yesterday.

Gardaí are examining if he died as the result of an alleged assault.

A post mortem examination is currently taking place to determine his exact cause of death.
