Detectives are hunting two men in the North after a teenager was shot in the buttock.

Detectives are hunting two men in the North after a teenager was shot in the buttock.

The attack happened in the New Barnsley Gardens area of Belfast at around 2:30pm this afternoon, investigators said.

The 19-year-old victim was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.

It is believed the two masked men – wearing dark clothing – made off in the direction of Vere Foster Walk.

Detective Chief Inspector Alan Little appealed for help from the public.

“We need the community’s assistance with this incident and I would ask anyone with any information about this incident to contact CID in Grosvenor Road Police Station on 0845 600 8000,” he said.

“Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
