A man is due in court this morning in connection with an aggravated burglary in Dublin.

A man is due in court this morning in connection with an aggravated burglary in Dublin.

He was arrested after a man in his 60s was assaulted at his home in Rialto yesterday.

In the early hours of yesterday morning, gardaí from Kilmainham received reports of a possible break-in at a house on St Anthony's Road, Rialto.

When officers arrived at the house, they found a 69-year-old man lying on the ground with serious head injuries.

An ambulance was called for and he was rushed to St James Hospital where he is receiving treatment.

During a search of the area, a 23-year-old man was arrested on Herberton Road shortly afterwards.

He has since been charged with the aggravated burglary and is due to appear before Dublin District Court this morning.
