Spending cuts set to target pensioners and the unemployed

The country is expecting another crippling Budget as the Government prepares to unveil a fresh raft of tax hikes and spending cuts today.

Senior ministers will today announce an adjustment of €2.5bn – bringing to a total nearly €30bn cut from the economy in the last five years.
