Man in critical condition after Offaly road accident

Gardaí are investigating a serious collision between a car and a pedestrian in Tullamore, Co Offaly this morning.

The 21- year-old man was seriously injured when he was struck by a car on Church Road at around 4am.

He was brought to the Midlands Regional Hospital, but was later transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin where is is said to be in a critical condition.

The driver of the car was uninjured.

The road is currently closed pending a technical examination and local diversions are in place.
