Man in his 60s attacked by four men in Dublin burglary
A man in his 60s is in hospital after four masked men assaulted him in an attempted burglary in Dublin.
Gardaí have arrested one man following the aggravated burglary at the house on Fortfield Road, Terenure at 9.30pm last night.
The homeowner was confronted by the men when he answered a knock at his door.
His teenage son was also there and they are alleged to have assaulted the father and demanded cash.
The gang fled when his wife returned to the house and her husband was brought to St James' Hospital where he was treated for his injuries which are not life threatening.
Gardaí intercepted a red van near the scene and arrested the driver, a man in his 30s.
He is being held at Terenure Garda station under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007.
The scene has been preserved for forensics and Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the Fortfield Road, Lavarna Road, Kimmage Cross Road areas of Dublin 6 between 9pm and 10pm last night.
They are also looking for anyone who saw a red transit type van in the area, to contact Terenure Garda Station on 01 666 6400.
