Man fakes kidnapping to go out partying

A man faked his own kidnap in front of his terrified wife to go out partying with his friends.

Rogelio Andaverde arranged for two of his friends to drag him out of his home with his shocked spouse Maria Hernandez watching on and he then returned two days later claiming his captors had simply decided to let him go.

But the police, who Maria called when her husband was taken, thought this was suspicious and investigated. Rogelio allegedly confessed later on that he had lied about the incident to "spend time with his friends and party".

Hidalgo County Sheriff Guadalupe Trevino told The Monitor: "He’s going to party in jail now.

"It’s humorous in a way, but also it’s very serious.

We have people file false reports all the time, and we put them in jail for it.

"But I've never had someone do it just to get out of the house."
