Man goes on trial for murder of bread delivery man at Topaz petrol station
A man has gone on trial for the murder of a bread delivery man who was shot four times at close range in a Topaz petrol station in Limerick.
John Coughlan from Pineview Gardens, Moyross denies murdering 35-year-old Daniel Treacy but admits his manslaughter on the morning of February 22, 2010.
Opening the trial, the prosecution said John Coughlan walked into the Topaz shop on the Ennis Road and shot the father-of-two three times in the head and once in the groin with a glock pistol.
The jury has been told that what is at issue is whether the accused man was suffering from a mental disorder that would have substantially diminished his responsibility.
