Gardaí are treating the death of a man in Cork city as suspicious.

The 36-year-old - originally from Dublin - was found collapsed on St Patrick's Quay at about 10pm on Thursday night and rushed to Cork University Hospital.

He underwent emergency surgery for a head injury but died early this morning.
