Viable explosive device made safe in Longford

The Army Bomb Disposal Team has made safe a viable explosive device in Co Longford.

It was found near a home in Lisfarrell late last night - and road closures were immediately put in place.

Bomb squad experts made the device safe at the scene without the need for a controlled explosion.

An all-clear was given at about 1.50am this morning.

All components and evidence have been handed over to gardaí to aid their investigation.
