Man granted bail by court despite losing passport

A Co Kildare man who is wanted in England for alleged involvement in a bombing conspiracy has been granted High Court bail despite having lost his passport.

25-year-old Jason Buckley, of Harbour View Apartments, Athy, was detained on foot of a European Arrest Warrant earlier this month.

In light of the missing travel document, the court has stipulated Buckley must sign on at a garda station twice daily to address the State’s concerns about him being a flight risk.

It noted that the United States is the only jurisdiction that routinely has regard to Interpol’s lost passport list.
