Man loses appeal over armed bookmaker robbery
A father of one with a long criminal record has lost an appeal against his 6-year jail sentence for an armed raid on a bookmakers in Dublin.
Ronald Hill with an address at Reuben Walk, raided Ladbrokes in Rialto in 2008, putting a shotgun to a staff member's face and threatening that she would be shot if she did not co-operate.
His lawyers argued this serious crime followed a relapse into drug use but the court could find no show of remorse and refused to reduce his jail term.
