Amnesty to honour schoolgirl and crooner with awards in Dublin

A Pakistani schoolgirl, shot by the Pakistani Taliban, and a Grammy-award winning singer will both be presented with prestigious Human Rights awards today.
Malala Yousafzai and Harry Belafonte will be at the Mansion House in Dublin tonight to receive the Amnesty Ambassador of Conscience.
16-year-old Malala's campaign for women's education captured the world's attention.
Amnesty Ireland executive Colm O'Gorman has said Harry Belafonte's contribution is equally important.
Mr O'Gorman said: "Right from the civil rights movement to the plight of children caught up in the Syrian armed conflict right now, I mean many people will know him as a top entertainer, but he has on so many levels right across his career acted on what he describes as his obligation to do more than just entertainment.
"He has done that now for decades indeed."
