Man helps deliver his own baby at Cork roundabout on way to hospital

A father who helped deliver his baby near the Jack Lynch Tunnel in Cork says mother and baby are doing very well.

Mother-of-three Louise Curry gave birth to baby Jamie Michael 5km from Cork University Maternity Hospital in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Kevin Twomey said he was forced to pull in at a roundabout when his wife said the baby was on the way.

After calling the Gardaí, his wife's water broke. "The whole ordeal was over in 30 seconds," he said.

The parents said they won't be naming the baby after the tunnel.
