Plans could see ban on cars in Dublin city centre

New traffic management plans being considered by the National Roads Authority could see a ban on cars driving thorugh Dublin city centre.

According to the Irish Times, a new orbital route has been proposed around the city which would mean the pedestrianisation of Suffolk Street and Church Lane.

Also on the cards is the turning of the southern end of College Green into a public plaza and reconfiguring Christchurch Place as a pedestrian-friendly space.

If the plans get the go-ahead cyclists will also be given a dedicated cycle network which would see them come in minimal contact with other road users.
