Work of Oireachtas Finance Committee 'not taken all that seriously'
A member of the Oireachtas Finance Committee has admitted that the group could be harder on the banks.
Independent TD Stephen Donnelly made the comments as four of the country's top bankers are to appear before the committee this week to outline the progress they are making in relation to the mortgage crisis.
More than 97,000 people are struggling with home loan repayments and the committee said it is their job to make sure that the banks are meeting Government targets in relation to the amount of mortgages that need to be addressed by the end of the year.
The TD for Wicklow and East Carlow, said the work of the committee is not taken that seriously.
