A solicitor for the Irish woman accused of being part of an attempt to smuggle €1.7m worth of cocaine has said that he will discuss her case with police in Peru later.

A solicitor for the Irish woman accused of being part of an attempt to smuggle €1.7m worth of cocaine has said that he will discuss her case with police in Peru later.

Human rights lawyer Peter Madden is going to a police holding centre where Michaella McCollum Connolly from Co Tyrone and co-accused Melissa Reid are being held.

They were arrested trying to board a flight to Madrid, but claim they were forced by a gang to carry the drugs.
