The body of a man has been discovered in Ennis, Co. Clare this afternoon.

The body was discovered in the Claureen River in the Dún na hÍnse part of the town during searches for a missing 22-year-old man, who last seen in the area on Saturday.

Family members of Seamus Higgins have expressed concerns for his safety, leading to an extensive six-day search operation led by the Clare Civil Defence and Gardaí.

The body has been removed to University Hospital Limerick where a post mortem examination will be conducted.
