Three Cork men charged over failed armed robbery in Glounthaune

Three men with Cork addresses have been charged in connection with a foiled armed robbery at the home of a businessman in Glounthaune on Sunday night.

46-year old Niall Fitzpatrick of Corrin Close, The Glen; Vincent Murray of Glandore Park, Knocknaheeny. 37; and Trevor O'Sullivan of Curraheen Drive, Bishopstown, also 37, are all charged in relation to the offence.

Each of the accused made no reply after caution.

Gardaí objected to bail for all three, and the judge refused bail due to the nature and seriousness of the offence - which carries a maximum prison sentence of 14 years if convicted - and the possibility of further serious offences being committed.

The three were remanded in custody to appear again in court on August 21st.
