Dublin Bus urges staff not to strike on Sunday

Dublin Bus is advising customers that due to potential industrial action, services may not operate this Sunday.
Members of SIPTU and the National Bus and Rail Union served strike notice earlier this week in a dispute over the implementation of a major cost cutting plan this Sunday.
The €12m plan was approved by the Labour Court earlier in the summer but union members have rejected it.
In a statement this evening, Dublin Bus is urging trade unions and employees not to engage in any industrial action on August 4, which, it says will cause unnecessary inconvenience to customers and further financial losses for the company.
"Now, almost 14 months later and having exhausted all of the State’s industrial relations mechanisms, no savings from terms and conditions have been achieved," the statement said.
"Dublin Bus now has no option to proceed immediately with the implementation of the Labour Courts Recommendation on Sunday ."
