Thousands expected at Croagh Patrick pilgrimage

The annual pilgrimage to Croagh Patrick, known as "Reek Sunday", gets underway today.

The event is one of Westport's major celebrations and is expected to attract over 25,000 people.

Visitors are being urged to use the car parking available and Gardaí are asking people not to park on the public roadway approaching Croagh Patrick.

Mark McNamara, from the Mayo Mountain Rescue Team, is urging participants to dress properly for the occasion.
