Jury told to return majority verdict in Sunday Times defamation case

The jury has been told it can return a majority verdict in the case of a Donegal property broker suing the Sunday Times for defamation.

Dubai based John McCauley has taken issue with an opinion piece written by journalist Brenda Power in the wake of his failed action for damages against a midwife who interrupted him filming the birth of his first daughter.

He claims the article from March 2009 makes him look like "some kind of headcase running around with a camera".

The newspaper denies defamation and claims the article was fair comment based on true facts.
