HSA launches probe into Killarney gas blast

The Health & Safety Authority has launched an investigation into a gas explosion in which one man died in Killarney on Saturday.

James Gleeson, the owner of a launderette on Brewery Lane in the town centre, died after the blast ripped through the building.

His funeral will take place in Killarney tomorrow.

A number of buildings including the International Hotel were damaged in the gas explosion, which is now being investigated by the HSA.

Guests are being accommodated in nearby hotels, and management said they are working very hard to reopen the hotel's doors.
