Man robbed at Tallaght night safe - two arrested

Two men in their 20s have been arrested following an overnight robbery in Tallaght.

Gardaí said the victim was about to lodge a quantity of documents and cheques at a bank night safe on Main Street in the suburb shortly before midnight when he was approached by two men.

One was armed with what appeared to be a firearm and the other carried a hammer. They forced the victim to hand over the document bag and fled.

Gardaí were notified and a search of the area was carried out. Two men were arrested and the bag and contents were recovered. The two men, who have local addresses, are detained at Tallaght and Rathfarnham Garda Stations under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 and can be detained for up to 72 hours.
