Dublin Bus drivers vote for strike action

SIPTU drivers in Dublin Bus have voted by an overwhelming majority for strike action in a ballot counted this afternoon.

The ballot saw 94% of SIPTU drivers in Dublin Bus vote in favour of strike action if the company attempts to implement changes to its terms and conditions of employment without agreement.

SIPTU Organiser, John Murphy, said "SIPTU has been given an overwhelming mandate by members in this ballot for strike action if the company attempts to change terms and conditions'.

He said workers are still available to meet management to engage in constructive negotiations on all outstanding issues.
