Mayo brothers subject of murder inquiry named

The two brothers who were brutally killed in their home in Co Mayo yesterday have been named locally as Jack and Tom Blaine.

The men, aged 68 and 70, were found dead in their home on New Antrim Street in Castlebar at around 7.30am yesterday morning.

Gardai have launched a murder inquiry and a 26-year-old man is still being questioned in relation to their deaths.

There is outrage in the local community that such an incident could happen in a built-up area, just yards from the Taoiseach Enda Kenny's constituency office.
