Court to decide on Dundon fitness for trial

The Special Criminal Court will decide later this morning if Limerick prisoner John Dundon is fit to go on trial over the fatal shooting of Garryowen rugby player Shane Geoghegan.

The 31 year old - who is to represent himself at the trial - cut his head having reportedly fainted moments before the case was scheduled to start yesterday.

Having sacked his legal team, John Dundon yesterday agreed to defend himself.

He entered a not guilty plea when arraigned for the murder of Shane Geoghegan in November 2008.

The court will hear medical evidence on his condition this morning before deciding on how to proceed.
