Research finds 'clear link' between obesity and oesophagus cancer
New research has shown a "clear link" between obesity and oesophagus cancer.
The study funded by the Irish Cancer Society shows that patients with excess weight on the abdomen may be at increased risk of developing the disease.
The research was carried out by staff at St James's Hospital in Dublin, who have warned that new treatment strategies are needed to tackle oesphagus cancer which has a survival rate of under 20%.
